Roller shutters are an excellent addition to any home, as they are protective against extreme weather and ensure longevity. As they require little maintenance and last decades, they make a perfect long-term investment that provides many benefits.

This excellent material ensures break-in protection in the way it is fitted to windows or doors and cannot be easily opened. The reinforced walls also allow noise reduction and insulation. This leads to energy saving, as the shutters can assist in keeping the house warm in winter or cooler in summer with lowered use of air conditioning or heating.

There are three main types of roller shutters: domestic, commercial, and fire-rated. All offer protection and security, with slight variations depending on their uses.

Domestic Shutters

These stylish shutters enhance any home or residential space. Enjoy the benefits of insulation and noise reduction for neighborhood noise. Gain the added ability to control light levels or privacy and create the perfect atmosphere in your home.

They are available with a range of operating systems. This includes 240V automation, 12V automation, or manual operation. They are also operable via a switch, remote, app, or wall controller and by cable or pull strap.

Perforated, one-way vision domestic shutters are an option that allows you to enjoy natural light while maintaining privacy. The home’s interior cannot be viewed from the outside.

Fire-rated Shutters

These shutters are also designed for the domestic space yet are made more for protection from extreme conditions. Fire-rated shutters are suitable for those living in high-risk, bushfire prone or semi-rural areas.

Fire-rated roller shutters have heat-shielding properties to 40kW/m². They are made for heavy-duty strength, with a commercial-grade double wall extruded profile. With a rating of BAL40 widths up to 4000mm, these shutters are approved by the CSIRO. They also comply with Australian Bushfire Construction Standard As3959–2009 (Clauses 3.7 & 8.5.1)

There are a variety of options for shutter operation, including wall switch or remote automation manual override motors with crank operation. Remote controls can be single or multi-channel.

Commercial Shutters

Commercial shutters are suitable for closing off or adding security to workplaces.

These heavy-duty shutters are available in 55mm and 40mm, as well as see-through options. They are excellent for closing off areas, including in shopping centres or car parks, or for sectioning off serving areas and providing safety in the work area. They can also cover areas up to 12sqm.

Commercial roller shutters are operable via push button, key switch, wall switch, or 1, 5, or 15 channel remote controls. You may also select from obstacle detection motors and manual override motors. Obstacle detection motors are excellent for ensuring the shutters are not damaged if a window or other object has been left in its path.

Roller shutters, overall, provide chic and affordable protection that offers peace of mind to inhabitants of the space. Selecting the right shutter type for your needs is essential for ensuring security and safety in the home or workplace.
